REPEATER LOSS OF POWER PROCEDURES
In the event the club repeater loses power or becomes inoperable due to other catastrophic reasons, such as a lightening strike, the club will continue to operate on 147.090 Mhz simplex … which means no offset. There will be no courtesy tone which indicates end of transmission, that everyone is used to during regular repeater operations, therefore, correct operating procedures using your callsign and indicating when you are done talking is a must.
Being able to operate simplex becomes crucial during an emergency such as sever weather storm spotting, as the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) may require relays of the spotter information from the Storm Spotter to the EOC.
