Monthly Club Meeting

Minutes for February 2, 2008

 

·       Meeting called to order by President: Calvin Emerson  (KC5ARC) at 9:10 am.

·       Self-Introductions were made.  There were 2 officers, 13 members and 8 guests present (4 either renewed membership or joined).

·       Minutes from January meeting were read by Frances (KC5CSC).  Motion made to accept minutes as read by Dirk (K7QVD), seconded by Larry (KC5UOQ).  Motion passed by show of hands.

·       Treasurer’s report was read by Frances.  With no activity since Jan 24, $714.13 remains in the club account as of this date.  Motion made to accept treasurer’s report as read by Dirk (K7QVD), seconded by Howard (KD5VBE).  Motion passed by show of hands.

·       Old Business

o      Field day – Dallas it waiting on response from American Legion however indicators are favorable.

American Airlines is exploring a “big” Field Day event possibility but no decision on location at this time.

No matter where, enough space to allow decent separation of antennae is necessary. 

Per Red, no “traps” on poles

Dirk will check with Methodist Church regarding their facilities

Dallas will check with Elks Lodge since it is really most ideal given location

At this time, not participating for points.  This 1st time will be a learning experience and fun event.

RV’s? Port-a-Potties?

Invite area official(s)

Frequencies: 80, 40, 20 and 10m possible, PSK (Dirk), HF (UHF/VHF), etc.

Full 24 hours or run to dark and tear down and lock up, ?

No QSL’s at this time.

WR5CWA will be the call used

Committee: Dallas – Location

         Red – Coordination

         ??? -  Food coordinator – BYOF (Bring your own food) was suggested

o      Dirk – Training @ Methodist Church – tentative – Wednesday night’s at 7 pm through April and May.  Generally expecting church members to participate to build a pool of operators for emergency communications.

o      Battery – has not been purchased.  Also, need to re-install the amp on the repeater – Calvin and Brian Meyer will discuss what needs to be done off-line from the meeting.

·       New Business

o      Green Country Ham Fest is March 14 and 15.  Volunteer golf-cart drivers are needed.  Names given: Frances Emerson (Saturday), Dirk Flint, Lea Ann Flint, Dale Brown(Friday), Larry Adams, Don Fuhs, Larry England.  Calvin will purchase 1 table in addition to the one provided by GCHF committee to the club.

o      Larry Wilks asked about possibility of ‘want ads’ on the web site.  Suggest name is “Trader’s List”.  Frances agreed to try setting something up fairly rapidly.  Submissions to the “list” will be by email to kc5csc@rcwa.org  

o      Don (KE0CQ) made motion to begin each club meeting with the “Pledge of Allegiance” and he’ll supply the flag suitable for hanging on the wall.  Dirk seconded the motion immediately. With little discussion and by show of hands with some abstentions, there was no opposition to the motion.
